ACADEMIC  PROGRAMS

The interdisciplinary nature of the ESS program allows you to learn from faculty and other students' perspectives while sharing core courses focused on environment, sustainability and society.

Earn a double major or combined honours degree by blending courses in ESS with a second focus from the faculties of Architecture and Planning, Arts and Social Sciences, Science, or the King's School of Journalism. Earn a major in ESS with a Bachelor of Management or a Bachelor of Informatics, or a minor in ESS with a Bachelor of Computer Science. Visit our Program Requirements page for details.

Future undergraduate degree combinations may be available with the faculties of Engineering and Health Professions. Explore other undergraduate programs with courses related to environment, sustainability and society at Dalhousie University.

Through Dalhousie's existing Interdisciplinary PhD program, students are able to frame their own research projects in the areas of environment, sustainability and society. Master's and PhD-level programs and classes in the ESS program are also under development. Students will draw upon resources and faculty from across the university, and cluster with other graduate students in order to study the environment from different angles.
